Product Overview

When a General Motors radio is built, it’s electronically paired to the vehicle’s VIN at the factory. If that radio is later installed into a different vehicle, it won’t recognize the new VIN and instead displays a “theft locked” warning on the screen. This is where the AutoEngineer GM Radio VIN Programmer comes in. Our tool clears the original VIN stored in the radio, allowing you to reuse or install it into another compatible GM vehicle without being locked out.

Important Details

  • Single-Vehicle Use: Once the programmer is connected, it permanently pairs to that vehicle’s VIN. You can return to it at any time to re-enable the unlocked state, but it cannot be used on multiple vehicles.
  • Radio Unlock Only: This programmer is designed solely to remove the theft lock message. It does not repair or activate other functions such as climate control, touch buttons, or audio issues. For any non-related malfunctions, please contact the seller or service provider of your radio.

Warranty and Returns

WARRANTY AND RETURNS COVERAGE

Auto Engineer includes a Free 1-Year limited warranty on all new, rebuilt items, and repair services, with the option to extend coverage up to 3 years for an additional cost. Warranty replacements carry a 90-day coverage period, applying only to the repaired or replaced portion of the unit. Damage from accidents, misuse, improper installation, tampering, or environmental factors is excluded, and costs such as labor, towing, or rentals are not covered. Claims require proof of purchase and inspection before approval, and service is limited to repair or replacement at our discretion. Refunds are only issued if a repair cannot be completed, and a diagnostic fee may apply for unrepairable units. Customers in Canada and the United States receive free shipping on warranty service, while international customers are responsible for shipping and related fees. All returns must be pre-authorized, with unauthorized or refused shipments subject to restocking, and original shipping charges are non-refundable. RENTAL COVERAGE
